Dragomir Zakov has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Kingdom of Denmark, based in Copenhagen, according to information in Friday's issue of the State Gazette. Nikolay Yankov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of India, has also been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to the Republic of Maldives, based in Delhi, India.

On February 5, the then government proposed to President Rumen Radev that Dragomir Zakov be appointed Ambassador to Denmark. Zakov is a career diplomat. He joined the Foreign Ministry in 2002. On March 1, 2022, he was appointed minister of defence in the regular cabinet - just 10 days after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine. From August 2022 to the present, he has served successively as ambassador-at-large in the Foreign Ministry for security in the Euro-Atlantic Area, and as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign and Security Policy.

Yankov was nominated Ambassador to the Republic of Maldives on January 23, 2024 by the then government. In July 2021, at the initiative of the Maldives, a visit was made to Bulgaria by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. Opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism were discussed.
