site.btaBansko Becomes Member of Federation of European Carnival Cities

The Federation of European Carnival Cities (FECC) has approved the application of the town of Bansko (southwestern Bulgaria) for membership in the organization, the municipality of Bansko said in a press release on Friday.

Bansko Mayor Stoycho Banenski's application was presented to delegates at the 44th FECC Convention by Bansko Municipality Secretary Ivan Doktorov. Addressing the Convention, Doktorov reaffirmed Bansko's commitment to continue to hold events presenting authentic cultural identity and voiced hope that, once admitted to the organization, the municipality's cultural and sporting calendar will become even richer and more interesting.

According to Alexander Tsitsimov, FECC International Board Member and Rapporteur for Admission of New Members, the delegates shared their strong impression of Bansko's participation in the 30th Surva International Festival of Masquerade Games in Pernik in January.

FECC brings together carnival cities and festival organizations from 37 countries.
