Suspension of Projects under
Three Cross-border Co-operation Programmes
Allowed amid COVID-19 Crisis

Sofia, March 21 (BTA) - Due to the state of emergency in Bulgaria and the measures introduced in its neighbouring countries, the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, in its capacity as Managing Authority of the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programmes with Turkey, Serbia, and North Macedonia, allows the suspension of the term within which the projects funded under these three programmes must be completed. The Ministry said in a press release on Saturday that to this end, a project's leading partner has to submit online a suspension request, backed by the corresponding proof of inability to implement the activities within the project, at e-tcm@mrrb.government.bg.

The suspension period requested cannot be longer than that of the state of emergency, which is subject to extension.

The Managing Authority will continue to process requests for advance, intermediate and final payments, and alerts for irregularities regarding partners operating in Bulgaria, as well as issue decisions on financial corrections and letters for the return of sums under financial corrections and unabsorbed advance payments.

All other directions, instructions and requirements related to project applications and the implementation of projects under the three programmes, remain unchanged. The leading partner has to stay in constant contact with the Joint Secretariat in view of changes in the subsidy agreement that might occur as a result of the emergency measures introduced.
