site.btaThird Tran Ultra Run Takes Place

The third edition of Tran Ultra Run has begun, organizers said. 

There are 480 entrants in the competition, or 130 more from last year. The courses start and finish in the centre of the village of Velinovo. Kiril Nikolov, Georgi Zhekov and Antonia Grigorova are some of the ranking contestants. 

Athletes can choose between four picturesque courses of varying length and difficulty. However, each offers unique experience and panoramic vistas. 

Tran Ultra Run is the only competition in Bulgaria, whose route crosses four mountains – Ezdimir, Lyubash, Paramun and Erul. The two longest courses (24 km and 54 km) have been added to ITRA’s calendar, the International Trail Running Association.  

A new category, ‘climber,” has been added since this year. It has a separate ranking. Contestants have to climb Lyubash Mountain with denivelation of 480 m over less a distance of less than 2 km. Runners in the 24 km and 54 km courses will contests this category.  

The run is organized by the Tran Tourist Association and is supported by the Tran Municipality, volunteers and sponsors.
