site.btaPM Glavchev Takes Part in Feast of St. George Zographou Monastery at Mount Athos
Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and the delegation he headed at Mount Athos took part in the feast of the St. George Zographou monastery, the Government information service said on Saturday. The ceremony was attended by several hundred pilgrims from Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, among other countries. Traditionally, the service began after sunset on Friday and continued throughout the night, ending with a one-hour procession on Saturday morning.
Glavchev thanked the hosts on behalf of the Bulgarian delegation for the invitation to attend the celebration. "Humility and patience are most important. Thanks for the welcome, we feel special here. Thank you for your efforts for this holy place and for the preservation and development of Orthodoxy and Bulgarian history and traditions," he said, adding that the Bulgarian state will continue to help maintain the monastery and its lands.
On Friday, Glavchev’s delegation paid homage to the holy relics of St. Cyril and St. Methodius at Mount Athos. The official guests also held meeting with the clergy.
