The amount of the average social security income for Bulgaria for March 2024 is BGN 1633.53, the National Social Insurance Institute (NSSI) announced.

The average monthly social security income for the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, was BGN 1,498.44. 

The determined average monthly social security income for the country for the said period is used in calculating the amounts of the newly granted pensions in April 2024, the release says.

The average social security income for February for the country was BGN 1,594.56, the data shows. 

According to a European Commission working paper on social convergence, the share of Bulgarians facing the risk of poverty or social exclusion remains high and income inequality significant.
