Sofia, March 26 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases
in Bulgaria has reached 264, with eight recoveries, national
coronavirus task force chief Maj. Gen. Ventsislav Moutafchiiski
said, speaking at a regular afternoon briefing on Thursday.
Since the last briefing on Thursday morning, there have been 21
new confirmed cases, two of which are the first for the towns of
 Kurdzhali (Southern Bulgaria) and Haskovo (Southeastern
Bulgaria).

Earlier in the day, Moutafchiiski said that there are
coronavirus patients in 18 out of Bulgaria's 28 regions.

Moutafchiiski told the press that the peak of the epidemic in
Bulgaria could be with lower than initially expected and within
the capabilities of the healthcare system to cope with it. "If
we leave things without control, we will need 500,000
ventilators which cannot be sourced in the whole of Europe," he
