A joint exhibition by artists Ceca Georgieva and Nora Levai titled A Conversation will be presented at the Hungarian Liszt Cultural Institute in Sofia. The vernissage will take place on May 8 and will be attended by the two artists and art historian Katalin T. Nagy.
The exhibition is a WCC Еurope Creative Exchange Programme project and will be on display until June 27.
"The European culture programme has given us the opportunity to live and work together alternately in Hungary and Bulgaria. The time spent together, the conversations, the impressions, and the emotions from the journey inspired us to display our work in an exhibition in Budapest in 2023, with the kind assistance of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Budapest, and now at the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Sofia," Georgieva and Levai said.
"Apart from friendship, what binds us together are also the shared ideas encoded in our works. I am very glad that we can hold a joint exhibition again," Levai added.
Nora Levai was born in 1952 in Hungary. She graduated in textiles from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts in 1979. She has participated in a number of exhibitions and plein air festivals in Hungary and abroad, including in Austria, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, and Canada. Her works have been acquired by museums and galleries in Hungary and Germany.
Ceca Georgieva has graduated from the Sofia art high school. She later pursued further studies at the Budapest academy of art and design and the Cité International des Arts in Paris. Georgieva has exhibited her artwork in France, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, and the US, to name but a few, and has won awards at the International Textile Festival in Leiden, the Netherlands, and the International Craft Competition in Cheongju, South Korea.
