site.btaPresident Radev to Attend Blessing of Bulgarian Army's Military Standards Ceremony on May 6
President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Rumen Radev will participate in the ceremony where the Bulgarian Army's military standards will blessed at Sofia's St. Alexander Nevski Square on May 6, Day of Valour and the Armed Forces, Radev's Press Secretariat repoted Saturday.
Radev will receive the honorary formation of the representative units of the Bulgarian Army and will lay a wreath at the Unknown Soldier monument, after which the solemn march of the representative units of the Armed Forces will take place.
In front of the Presidential Administration building, at 12:00, a ceremonial change of the National Guards Unit's guard of honour will take place, which will also be attended by student guard units.
The Defence Ministry said earlier that caretaker Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov will also attend the ceremony, along with Chief of Defence Emil Eftimov, and military top brass. Among the invited are representatives of the government, the diplomatic corps and military and patriotic organizations.
Zapryanov also explained last month that this year there will be no valour day military parade on May 6, as it coincides with Easter and the Government has decided to give priority to the latter holiday.
