Six illegal migrants have been detained on the road connecting Haskovo and Dimitrovgrad on April 27, the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Haskovo said on Monday.

On Saturday, in the village of Radievo, a police patrol, after having been alerted, attempted to stop a car in which the migrants were travelling. The driver did not comply, trying to escape. A chase followed, in which the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off to the right, causing an accident. The police identified that there were six illegal migrants without identity documents in the car.

The driver, a Syrian national, registered in the town of Harmanli, has also been detained.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
