Amnesty International's annual report on the human rights situation in Bulgaria highlights continuing problems. These relate to gender-based violence, the rights of migrants and refugees, and the rights of people with disabilities. This year's report touches on only one new topic compared to last year's, and that relates to the right to a healthy environment. This is what Nayden Rashkov, Director of Amnesty International Bulgaria, said in an interview with BTA.
The report on the observance of a number of rights in Bulgaria highlights problems with freedom of expression, violation of the rights of the LGBTI community, and incitement of hatred against ethnic minorities, Rashkov said.
He pointed out that these issues have been on the agenda in Bulgaria for a long time and this is clearly visible from Amnesty International's reports in recent years.
The trends described can also be traced in the reports of the Ombudsman, civil society organizations and European institutions, he said.
