Bulgaria's Svetlana Kamenova on Saturday won her first European title in the 57 kg bodyweight class at the 14th EUBC Elite Women's European Boxing Championships in Belgrade. This was also the first gold medal for Bulgaria at this competition.
The 33-year-old Bulgarian, who holds a gold medal from the World Championships in New Delhi in 2023 and three European bronze medals, decisioned Russia's Daria Abramova, 5-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 30-27).
Earlier in the day, another Bulgarian entrant, Zlatislava Chukanova, took silver in the 50 kg division after losing a hotly contested bout against Ireland's Shannon Sweeney, 1-4 (28-29, 28-29, 29-28, 28-29, 28-29).
After Sevda Asenova (48 kg), Venelina Poptoleva (52 kg) and Aslahan Mehmedova (63 kg) won bronze medals on Thursday, Bulgaria's women boxers totalled five medals at these European Championships: one gold, one silver, and three bronze.
