The aid to support the liquidity of farmers to overcome the negative economic impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine agreed with the government on February 12 will be paid by May 15, said caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Gavchev after a meeting with the representatives of the sector.

The deadline expired on April 22. The cabinet of Nikolay Denkov signed an agreement with agricultural organizations on February 12.

It came after several protests by agricultural producers with demands for a revision of a proposal for the allocation of the aid to prevent mass bankruptcies of farmers and clear guarantees for legislative changes to ensure the sector’s sustainability.
