site.btaPresident Radev Honours Participants in Everest 84 Expedition with Badge of Honour
Head of State Rumen Radev awarded the Presidential Badge of Honour to the participants in the first Bulgarian expedition to climb Mount Everest in 1984. The event was part of the official celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Everest 1984 expedition.
Radev handed over the Badge of Honour to one of the expedition participants, Kiril Doskov.
The awarding of the mountaineers was at the suggestion of the Bulgarian Tourist Union.
On April 20, 1984, Hristo Prodanov became the first Bulgarian to summit Everest. The next to set foot on the Mount were Ivan Valchev and Metodi Savov on May 8, and Nikolay Petkov and Kiril Doskov on May 9.
