An exhibition of artworks by late Bulgarian artist Stavri Kalinov titled Post Mortem will be on display at Sofia’s Sredets Gallery from April 30 to May 23. The exposition will include 12 sculptures and 49 paintings and drawings, said the organizers of the Art Club Diplomat and Sredets Gallery.

The exhibition will be opened by Prof. Lyubomir Stoykov, a cultural studies expert and lecturer at the National Academy of Arts. A long-time friend of Kalinov, Stoykov has devoted a book to him titled Kalinography. "Stavri Kalinov is a real art factory - tireless, relentless, always busy creating his sculptures, paintings, drawings, and incredible works of metal, glass, ceramics, silk, and whatnot," Stoykov said. "An original, unconventional, intriguing, and fascinating artist, he fully embodies the image of the true artist, the true creator, Homo Ludens, the playing man," he added.

Stavri Kalinov was born on November 15, 1944, in Vidin (Northwestern Bulgaria) and died on September 12, 2023, in Sofia. He graduated in woodcarving from the National Academy of Arts in 1977. Starting in 1973, he regularly participated in sculpture exhibitions. Kalinov held exhibitions in Vidin, Gabrovo, Varna, Nessebar, and Plovdiv. He also exhibited abroad, including in Italy, Australia, Germany, Spain, the UK, France, the US, Switzerland, and Belgium. His works have been acquired by a number of personalities, including Pope John Paul II, Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne, Lloyd Klein, Simeon-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Lili Ivanova, and Bill Clinton, to name a few.
