site.btaUS Author Rory Miller to Present His Book "The Art of Eyeballing" Containing Culinary Recipes from Bulgarian Villages in North American Tour

Rory Miller, an American living in Bulgaria, will present his book The Art of Eyeballing, containing culinary recipes from Bulgarian villages he visited, during his tour in North America, The next stop would be on April 21 at Geneva Hallin Ottawa. The initiative is under the auspices of Elka Rouskov, Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Washington State.

So far, The Art of Eyeballing was presented on April 17 in Chicago, Miller and his editor Milena Dimitrova presented the"fascinating, cheerful, direct" book which focuses on the "important things in life", the organisers from the Magura Cultural Center said.

Tha author also visited Toronto on April 19. The Bulgarian diaspora there enjoyed the sweet-talking delicious stories and wonderful cocktails included in the book, Elka Rouskov pointed out on her Facebook profile. The book launch in Montreal took place on April 20. 

The next dates of the tour are April 25 in New York, April 27 in Seattle.

Rory Miller is accompanied by journalist and editor Milena Dimitrova, who also presents her book The Curse of White Cheese.

The Art of Eyeballing, conceived as a culinary guidebook, becomes a guidebook in the wilds of the Bulgarian soul. The original idea of Rory Miller, an American who has been living in Bulgaria for years, was to visit several remote villages, meet the local people and try some of the traditional Bulgarian feasts. Instead, he found friends, touched their rich soulfulness and humanity. Thus, his notes are not only about the delicious dishes prepared by hearty hosts, but also about the warmth in their homes, about their joys and pains. Thus this expression, which was originally the catalyst of his travels, became the symbol of a whole philosophy of life, the book blurb reads. 

Miller said that he was fascinated by the Bulgarian way of measuring ingredients by "eyeballing" them because there is no such thing in the English language. He chose it as a tilte,a s he believes this way of looking at things is not solely reserved for food and drink.

Rory Miller was born in the city of Tacoma in the US state of Washington. At the age of 19, he left for Italy, where he worked as a construction worker, olive picker and English teacher. He settled in Bulgaria 15 years ago. He created craft beers, was employed as a chef in several restaurants and founded fast food restaurants.

The initiative is supported by the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York, as well as by Hopa Trop Folklore Ensemble in Seattle, the Magura Cultural Center in Chicago, Eli Yordanov and ElArte, Bulgarian Arts and Cultural Exchange (BACE), Domani Pizzeria and Restaurant, etc., pointed out Elka Rouskov.
