site.btaCode Yellow and Orange Weather Warning Issued for 27 Regions almost Entire Country
A code orange warning was issued on Saturday by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) for intense rainfall and thunderstorms in the Blagoevgrad and Smolyan regions.
Code orange warns of possible flooding of properties and in the transport network. Interruptions in electricity supply, communications and the water network are possible. A partial evacuation may be required. There is a danger when driving due to reduced visibility and aquaplaning, NIMH stated on its website.
A yellow code for significant rainfall and thunderstorms has been issued for the regions of Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, part of the region of Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, for part of the region of Montana, as well as for the regions of Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv , Razgrad, Ruse, Silistra, Sofia city and Sofia region, Targovishte, Shumen and Yambol.
Code yellow warns of the possibility of local flooding, driving difficulties due to reduced visibility and aquaplaning. Discontinuation of outdoor activities may also be necessary.
NIMH weather forecast for Saturday afternoon is for short-term rainfall with thunder in many places, with light to moderate south-southeasterly wind. The maximum temperatures will be between 13C and 18C, 12C in Sofia.
