The Ministry of Interior has already started the organization and is ready to fulfil its commitments for the elections, caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov told journalists on Saturday.

According to him, the Interior Ministry’s job is not to organize elections, which is the task of the Central Election Commission. “The Interior Ministry has commitments to secure ballot papers, polling stations, voting machines, and to fight vote buying. We are ready, a lot of experience has been gained in recent years as many elections have been held, I am confident that we will be able to cope. For the moment there are no signals, they start to grow progressively when the election campaign starts", Stoyanov explained.

"I am baffled how – six months after the local elections – the then Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov came out and said that the Interior Ministry had not done well in those elections. We were not criticised during the elections, nor after them," the caretaker Interior Minister said. “The statement of a group of people that the Interior Ministry is also responsible for the number of invalid ballots is also perplexing - I think this is completely absurd,” he added.

Stoyanov said that he is not considering a new secretary-general and intends to work with Zhivko Kotsev's deputy, who has been doing an excellent job so far.
