site.btaNearly 500 Students from 17 Countries Compete in Informatics Tournament in Shumen
A total of 481 competitors from 17 countries took part in the first competition day of the International Advanced Informatics Tournament (IATI) John Atanasoff here on Friday, the Chair of the IATI organizing committee Dr Biserka Yovcheva told BTA. IATI is separated in two age groups: junior – for students up to 15.5 years old, and senior – for high school students.
On Saturday, computer scientists from Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Egypt, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine will compete again in the field of competitive informatics, while participants from Belarus, Russia and Tatarstan will compete under a neutral flag, Yovcheva noted. She reported that 119 competitors will participate in person, while the remaining 362 will compete online.
The award ceremony is scheduled for April 20. The competition is under the auspices of President Rumen Radev and the Rector of the Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen, Prof. Dr Nataliya Vitanova.
