Twenty-two national education development programmes with a total budget of BGN 230,963,400 were approved by the Government on Friday, the Government Information Service said. Two of the programmes are new and address road traffic safety and school bullying prevention.

The Road Traffic Safety Programme has a budget of BGN 4,300,000 and is intended to develop competences for responsible road safety behaviour in children and pupils by building training facilities, using an interactive road safety app, and providing vehicles for transporting children and pupils. The possibility of using electric buses is also envisaged.

With a budget of BGN 500,000, the new National Programme for School Bullying and Aggression Prevention follows up on activities implemented in 2023. The measures will cover a larger number of schools and include kindergartens as well.

A Programme for the Incorporation of Information and Communication Technology into Pre-school and School Education envisages the provision of reading devices for pupils with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia.

A National Programme titled Innovation in Action will focus on schools that have introduced new subjects and interdisciplinary modules.

New modules are included in the programmes Bulgarian Educational Routes, Vocational Education and Training, and Prevention and Rehabilitation of Education Professionals. The first one targets Bulgarian Sunday schools that are supported by the Education Ministry and state schools abroad. The second programme focuses on pupils’ performance in vocational competitions. The third programme addresses chronic stress in teaching professionals.
