site.btaParliament Postpones Liberalization of Electricity Market for Household Consumers by 1 Year at First Reading

MPs postponed the liberalization of the electricity market for household consumers by a year at  first reading of three bills for changes to the Energy Act.

On October 5, Parliament approved changes to the Energy Act which provided for the liberalization of the energy market for domestic consumers. The amendments provided that from July 1, 2024, the National Electricity Company (NEK) would cease to be a public supplier and that producer quotas for the regulated market would be abolished.
