site.btaParliament Amends Agricultural Producers Support Act on First Reading
The National Assembly adopted on first reading amendments to the Agricultural Producers Support Act here on Thursday. The bill sponsor, Desislava Taneva of GERB-UDF, said that this bill is necessary in order to proceed with the very late campaign for the submission of applications for direct payments. These amendments reflect changes to the Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development that have been approved by the European Commission and effectively change some of the eligibility requirements for farmers. Taneva said that the changes, drafted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and by the State Fund Agriculture, ensure that the relevant aids to support farmers can continue.
The amendments were backed with 139 votes in favour, none against and one abstention.
The amendments provide for an extension until December 31, 2026, of the deadline for implementing the State aid scheme "Reduced Excise Duty on Gas Oil Used in Primary Agricultural Production".
