site.btaState University of Taraclia Hosts Series of Events to Mark International Romani Day
The Gregory Tsamblak State University of Taraclia has hosted a round table titled "Roma People in Taraclia's Society" on the occasion of the International Romani Day, April 8.
In an environment of candor and mutual respect, students, lecturers, and guests discussed the history, culture, and traditions of this unique ethnic group, the university said.
"The desire for understanding and cooperation lit up the faces of the participants, and everyone put their energy into finding ways for cultural enrichment," the organizers added.
Invited to attend the event were representatives of the ethnic Roma from the city of Taraclia and the leader of the community in Taraclia District, Ivan Cebotar, who spoke about the culture, history, and traditions of the Roma people in Moldova.
In addition to the round table, from April 8 to 12, the university hosted a photo exhibition titled "The Roma People. Past and Present", a book exhibition titled "The People of the Nomadic Stars", a film screening involving artists and representatives of the Roma community, and a seminar on "Lessons in Tolerance towards Roma People".
