Bulgaria’s National Assembly passed amendments to the 2024 State Budget Act on Wednesday, increasing the number of municipalities' budget-financed projects by 631 to a total of 2,258. The amendments were approved on first reading on April 5, 2024.

Earlier in the day, Parliament heard caretaker Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova on the implementation of the Act’s investment programme.

Koritarova said that her Ministry has received 1,302 applications for financing of municipal projects under the capital investment programme. Petkova noted that with interim adjustments as of the end of March, the municipalities have requested funding for 2,258 projects.
