In fulfillment of its commitments under the Election Code, and to ensure the highest international standards for the conduct of fair, free and democratic elections, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued invitations for international observation of the early elections to the National Assembly of Bulgaria and the elections to the European Parliament scheduled for June 9, the ministry's press centre said on Tuesday.

The Permanent Representation of Bulgaria in Vienna has sent a note verbale inviting the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA). Invitations were also extended to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC). If these organizations are willing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will ask the Central Election Commission to register their representatives as international observers at the forthcoming elections.
