site.btaBulgarian, German Interior Ministers to Visit Checkpoint on Border with Turkiye

Bulgarian caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov and German Federal Minister of the Interior and Community Nancy Faeser will visit the Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint on Monday, Stoyanov’s Ministry said in a press release.

On site, Stoyanov will familiarize his German counterpart with the functioning of the border control authorities and with the activities of the Trilateral Centre for Police and Customs Cooperation between Bulgaria, Turkiye and Greece.

Kapitan Andreevo is the busiest land border crossing in Europe and the second busiest in the world.

Faeser’s visit comes in the context of Bulgaria’s efforts to achieve full Schengen entry after its admission to the area without air and sea border controls, effective March 31, 2024.
