President Rumen Radev, who spoke at the celebration of the World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day and the 45th anniversary of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut to go to space here on Friday, said that a modern competitive economy would not be a topic of discussion, were it not for modern space science, space technology and space industry. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Air Force, the Space Research and Technology Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Foundation Bulgarian Air Force.
Radev was adamant that aviation and cosmonautics require commitment from both the state leadership and the public if Bulgaria is to have a dignified future. He said that before each take-off, a fighter pilot would pledge their life for the sake of their country and added that the same sense of morale should be fostered in the younger generation.
The head of State said that whoever rules the sky and the cosmos will be an undisputed leader of the future. He stated that today Bulgaria is a leading country in the production of macro and mini satellites.
