A survey conducted by Gallup International Balkan found that 37.4% of Bulgarians would vote for the national parliament and 34.2% for the European Parliament if elections were held in early April. The survey was commissioned by the Bulgarian National Television.
If national parliamentary elections were held in early April, 37.4% of respondents would vote and 3.5% of all voters would opt for "None of the Above". GERB-UDF would win 27.4%, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) 17.9%, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) 15.2%, Vazrazhdane 14.9%, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) 10.5% and There Is Such a People (TISP) 5.2%. The rest of the votes would be spread between smaller parties and coalitions. The electoral threshold is 4%.
As to the European Parliament elections, 34.2% would vote and 3.1% would opt for "None of the Above". The distribution of the votes would be similar to that in the national parliamentary elections: GERB-UDF would win 27.9%, CC-DB 17.7%, MRF 14.8%, Vazrazhdane 14.6%, BSP 9.8% and TISP 5.4%.
Gallup International Balkan added that as registration for the June 9 national and European elections is yet to take place, there is a high degree of uncertainty and the data cannot be read as an election result forecast.
The survey was conducted between March 28 and April 5 among 805 respondents through face-to-face interviews using tablets. The sample is representative of the population aged 18 or over, with 1% of the sample being equal to about 54,000 people. The survey is a snapshot of electoral attitudes at the end of the term of the Nikolay Denkov cabinet and does not reflect later developments, the polling agency said.
