During the EU Meets the Balkans Forum held in Sofia on Monday, Albanian Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Artemis Malo said that the EU is not just an alternative for the Western Balkans, but a necessity.

Malo stressed that the support of the European institutions to the countries that have taken the path to integration should be reaffirmed.

The Albanian Deputy Minister noted that he country's position has been consistent and clear and that European integration will continue to be a priority for Albania. Malo pointed out that support for joining the EU among the public remains at a high level.

At the national level, Albania has already undertaken irreversible reforms. All this strengthens regional cooperation and helps the country achieve the goals it is are aiming for, Malo stressed.
