Bulgaria has the potential to be not only a participant, but also an important element in the negotiations for lasting peace in the Middle East. In this conflict, peacemaking must begin with a clear state position on the ugly truth that Israel has long crossed the line of self-defense and committed genocide, MP Ivaylo Chorbov of Vazrazhdane said in a statement on behalf of the parliamentary group.

The declaration urges the National Assembly to consider a position condemning Israel's policy and in effect state terrorism in Gaza, and to follow the clear example of the UN assessment. This will be the first step towards real condemnation without ignoring the prerequisites for the war in the Middle East. Peace is not achieved through silence, and the ugliest lies are the silenced truths, Chorbov said.

At the beginning of the declaration, it is said that the Israeli political class, standing on the shoulders of military power, has gradually transformed Israel from a creator of achievement into a consumer and from an equal subject in international negotiations into an entity enjoying exclusive privileges and prerequisites to develop as it sees fit, regardless of anyone's other interests, concerns or needs.

"Tensions between Arabs and Israelis in territories controlled by Israel not only did not stop, but created excellent ground for the emergence and rooting of non-institutional structures for the governance of society, such as the Hamas movement," Chorbov added.

The statement recalls that on October 7, 2023, unexpectedly and surprisingly Hamas hit Israel, killing 1,160 people and kidnapping 250. Chorbov said that in response since October 7, more than 32,000 people Palestinians have been killed, including 20,000 children and more than two million have been displaced.

He said that Vazrazhdane condemns the crimes committed by Hamas, while at the same time strongly supports the assessment of the UN special envoy for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, who says that Israel's subsequent actions were genocide of the Palestinian people.
