MPs from Vazrazhdane gave a briefing in Parliament on Thursday in connection with a request for a hearing of the head of the Military Intelligence next Wednesday.

"We are doing this in connection with the extremely serious scandal that we learned about a few days ago - about the experience of Atanas Atanasov [leader of the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria, part of the CC-DB coalition], a former general, for interfering and recruiting people in the military intelligence and in the services in general. This is a very serious treason and crime.

For all this, instead of Atanasov being arrested and detained, we are currently seeing how he is still at large and walking in the National Assembly. It is obvious that this is a very serious blow to the statehood and the foundation of each country - namely national security. And CC-DB pose a serious threat to national security," Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said at the briefing.

The party insists that the hearing of the military intelligence chief should be the first item on the parliamentary agenda next Wednesday.
