site.btaEconomy Minister, Algerian Ambassador Discuss New Areas of Cooperation

Outgoing Economy and Industry Minister Bogdan Bogdanov and Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria, Messaoud Mehila, held a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and new areas of cooperation between the two countries, the Economy Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

The two sides discussed the possibility of organizing the 21st session of the Mixed Bulgarian-Algerian Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in 2025. The event is to be hosted by Bulgaria.

Bogdan Bogdanov and Messaoud Mehila voiced satisfaction with the existing good relations between Bulgaria and Algeria. They highlighted the steady growth in trade between the two countries in recent years and agreed that there is potential to increase the share of high value-added goods.

The Minister and the Ambassador agreed that new sectors of cooperation should be sought in which Bulgarian companies could engage with activities in Algeria. Bogdanov proposed to organize an online meeting with representatives of the automotive industry and the IT sector, which are among the leading in Bulgaria.
