The Bulgarian naval research ship Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) will be returning to its home port of Varna on April 3, bringing to completion the 32nd national Antarctic expedition. The official welcome is scheduled for 11am.

In 2021, the ship was acquired by the Naval Academy in Varna together with the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute and the St. Kliment Ohidski University of Sofia. Its main mission is to take Bulgarian Antarctic researchers to Antarctica and back and to assist their work on the national programme for polar studies. The ship was christened on June 27, 2021

The 32nd Bulgarian Antarctic expedition started on November 8, 2023, when RSV 421 sailed from Varna with 70 tonnes of materials and supplies for the Bulgarian base on Livingston Island.
