BSP for Bulgaria refuses talks about participation in a caretaker cabinet, said leader Korneliya Ninova.
"If we are invited to talks to propose ministers, deputy ministers, heads of agencies, etc. in the caretaker cabinet - we categorically refuse," Ninova said. According to her, this is not the job of the political parties, but of "the selected caretaker prime minister Dimitar Glavchev to propose his cabinet". The most logical thing is to discuss it with President Radev beforehand, so that a new crisis does not arise and the president refuses to endorse such a cabinet, Ninova said and speculated that such talks are being held beforehand."
She said that Kalin Stoyanov is part of the Council of Ministers, which they do not trust.
Ninova also commented on the amendments to the Bulgarian National Bank Act adopted at the second reading. "With these amendments the ruling majority of GERB, CC-DB and MRF are aggravating the constitutional crisis. They tried to correct the mistake they made with the amendment to the Constitution with new mistakes. They legalized the conflict of interest by allowing the president of the Audit Office, after his time as caretaker prime minister expires, to come back and audit his caretaker cabinet and ministers himself," Ninova added. In her words, "this is a step forward towards the degradation of statehood, towards the murder of institutions, towards a mockery of the rule of law."
Asked what they would do to stop the conflict of interest, Ninova said that they could not change things by voting because there were only 23 of them. What we are doing is to talk, to pay attention, to give arguments and, if there is the slightest suspicion of unconstitutionality in what they are doing, which we will check, we will look for unity with other parliamentary groups to refer to the Constitutional Court, Ninova said.
Ninova added that the CC-DB and GERB, as well as the MRF, are beginning to compete with social proposals and promises. It is strange because these same people as a majority voted the country's budget for this year and when we proposed social benefits, we were accused of populism, waste and that we would break the state, she said.
The chairwoman of the BSP for Bulgaria group noted that they did not make a coalition with GERB. "You see that they promise after the elections the assembly to continue again, Ninova said, adding that the question is why then we go to elections.
On internal party issues, Ninova said there was no war and an election campaign was underway.
