April 23 (BTA) - The confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria are 1,097, the Health Ministry reported here Thursday afternoon, quoting data from the national coronavirus task force. A total of 190 patients have recovered. The fatalities are 52.

A total of 270 patients are in hospital, 37 of whom in intensive care.

There are 39 infected children, of whom 22 are under ten years old.

Earlier in the day, in view of the Muslim religious Ramadan holiday, the Chief Mufti Office has ordered prayers to be streamed online and performed outside of mosques. Families are advised to gather only with close relatives. Food that is handed out must be packed and only given to the neediest. The Chief Mufti Office will call on the Foreign Ministry and the Health Ministry to halt the expected trips from Turkey to Bulgaria. RY,RI/ZH,MY
