site.btaSolomon Passy Says NATO's Founding Fathers Were Far More Visionary than Their Contemporaries Realized
Solomon Passy, founder and President of The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, Friday visited BTA's National Press Club for the opening of an exhibition entitled "75 Years of NATO and 20 Years of Bulgaria in NATO". He said that on the one hand, the exhibition is a handbook of history, while on the other hand it is a guide for the future. NATO's founding fathers were far more visionary than their contemporaries were able to appreciate, he said.
The war in Ukraine has shown that the only thing that can oppose an illegitimate force is a legitimate force, according to Passy. He added that "NATO is the legitimate force".
Passy said: "My original profession is mathematics, mathematical logic and computer science, and I never had any idea that life would take me into something altogether different from science. But the changes in Eastern Europe and the fall of the Berlin Wall, the dissident movements in Eastern Europe, changed the lives of many people, including mine. For 33 years now, since August 1990, I have been involved with NATO. I would very much want to know what NATO's future will be in another 33 years, when I would hypothetically be 100 years old, and I am sure it will be much more clearly and globally defined than it is today."
