A report on the activities of the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) for the period January 1 - December 31, 2023 was presented at the Council's meeting on Thursday.

The report presented all the activities of CEM, mainly in two directions - monitoring and licensing. The report also found a place for a number of council initiatives related to issues of public interest, such as round tables and discussions related to film production, media literacy, self-censorship among journalists, noted Emilia Staneva, who presented the report.

Sonia Momchilova said this is a worthy report that testifies to the active, useful and effective work of CEM.

Gabriela Naplatanova noted that the employees of the monitoring directorate tracked and actively monitored over 20,000 hours of audio-visual content and 7,000 hours of radio broadcasts. Monitoring was done not only related to the election campaign, but also very focused observations that continue this year on the topic related to Russia's war against Ukraine, Hamas' war against Israel, and many things related to current events that are important to Bulgarian society.

Prolet Velkova said that CEM has quite meaningful and well-done work behind it. “However, I think that we also have two topics on which we continue to be indebted to the public - misinformation and media literacy,” Prolet Velkova also said.
