Bulgaria provided financial support for an energy efficiency project for a kindergarten in the Moldovan village of Cairaclia, where the population is predominantly Bulgarian. The renovation of the building is expected to be completed by the beginning of the next school year. The cost of the project is BGN 19,497, of which 97% will be provided under the Bulgarian Development Aid programme implemented by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kindergarten director Snezhana Bondarenko told BTA that the number of children has been increasing in recent years due to declining emigration and settlement of young families from Ukraine after the outbreak of the war there.

According to a 2004 census, 2,124 people live in the village of Cairaclia. Some 82% of them are ethnic Bulgarians. The village was founded in 1861 during a resettlement of Bulgarian colonists.
