Bulgaria is headed to snap elections and this is the normal ending for an abnormal deal, Bulgarian Socialist party leader Korneliya Ninova commented Tuesday. "This Parliament has had its resources used up. Nobody has had talks with us for supporting a second government mandate with Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria," she said.

She argued that if Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria bow down to GERB after what happened on Tuesday, "they will hit the bottom of human dignity and political ethics".

On Tuesday, GERB-UDF Prime Minister-designate Mariya Gabriel took to President Rumen Radev a proposal for a government lineup after he mandated her a day earlier to try to form a government. The proposed lineup had most of the ministers of the Nikolay Denkov Cabinet, in which GERB-UDF and CC-DB shared the power, but later the same day it transpired that Gabriel had not secured the consent of CC-DB for her proposal and a rift between the two coalitions ensured - bringing even more uncertainty about the future of the Bulgarian government.

Ninova also said that CC-DB "embraced the mafia and whitewashed [GERB leader Boyko] Borissov". "These people were brought together by fear and greed. They packaged their deal in Euro-Atlantic wrapping that is now tearing. There was nothing Euro-Atlantic in their behaviour. Borissov fears for himself and all he wants to do is to ensure his survival and remain intact."

Her criticism for CC-DB was that they "lied to the thousands who protested in the squares and wanted a real change", which she said was "the biggest betrayal in contemporary Bulgarian history".

She argued that her party is the alternative.
