On this date in Bulgarian history:

1914: First sitting of the 17th National Assembly following the February 23 early parliamentary elections. The number of MPs is increased from 204 to 245.

1953: The opera in Plovdiv is unveiled. First performance given on November 15, 1953. 

1995: Bulgaria signs a protocol establishing diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia.

1998: Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Evgeni Bakurdjiev and Gazprom Chairman Rem Vyakhirev sign in Moscow a protocol for negotiations between the Bulgarian government and Gazprom for supply and transit of natural gas.

2008: Bulgaria recognizes Kosovo's independence.
