Northwest State Enterprise - Vratsa (NWSE-Vratsa) has started the implementation of a European project aimed at reducing conflicts between humans and large predators, the enterprise here announced on Tuesday.

NWSE-Vratsa will partner with 15 organisations from seven European countries, including the Bulgarian Forestry Executive Agency and WWF - Bulgaria. The project is financed under the 2021 - 2027 Interreg Danube Region Programme, with the deadline for implementation being June 2026.

NWSE-Vratsa said that during this period data will be collected to monitor forest ecosystems, including the creation of eco-corridors for large carnivores. Members of local communities will be included in pilot measures of the project, which will contribute to reducing conflicts between people and large predators, the enterprise stated.

The project activities will be carried out on the territories of the forest farms in Berkovitsa, Belogradchik and Chiprovtsi.
