60 years ago, the women's team of Bulgarian volleyball club Levski Sofia became the first Bulgarian team to win the CEV (European Volleyball Confederation) Women’s Champions Cup. The CEV Women's Champions Cup was founded in 1960 and bore this name until 2000 when it was renamed CEV Women's Champions League. It is the highest-level European volleyball club competition organized by CEV.

In 1964, Levski won the cup, achieving an aggregate score of 4-3 from the two legs in the final against Dynamo Berlin. Days later, the volleyball team presented the trophy to the Bulgarian crowd at a friendly football match between Levski Sofia and Spartak Moscow.

Since its foundation in 1960, the CEV Women's Champions League has been held every year. During these 64 years, Bulgaria has won the cup a total of 3 times. The other two victories belong to CSKA Sofia (1979 and 1984).
