The Green Strandzha Association started their annual campaign Clean and Accessible Strandzha, which promotes young people and students collecting bags of waste while hiking in the Strandzha Mountains, the Burgas Municipal Administration said here on Wednesday. The campaign aims to promote environmental education whilst protecting nature.

For years, the Green Strandzha Association has organised trips to clean highly polluted and hard-to-reach places in the mountains. Over the years more and more student groups from Burgas schools and universities have joined in to help in these campaigns. The Municipality of Burgas and the Burgas International Youth Center help the campaign by providing transportation and logistics.

This year, the first two groups were graduates of the Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov University and cleaned up the area around the village of Golyamo Bukovo, as well as 10th graders from the Burgas Vocational High School of Computer Programming and Innovation, who visited the area around the village of Belevren.

The association invites school principals, teachers and students from Burgas Region, who wish to organise a cleanup in their area, to contact them. The trips will not only be accompanied by a hike in the forest and sightseeing, but they will also promote environmental education.
