Burgas will host the Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix in 2024, Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov announced on his official Facebook page on Wednesday. The world's largest competition for the design and construction of hydrogen cars will take place in June at Boycho Branzov Sports Hall.

Over 300 teams from four continents are expected to compete for a chance to reach the world finals, which will be held in Los Angeles in September.

Nikolov also said that this year, Burgas will host other significant events, such as the Bulgarian Geographical Festival (April 27-28), the final of the National Mathematical Student Olympiad (May 18-19), and Junior Achievement Bulgaria (June 1-2).

The first edition of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence is also planned to be held in Burgas from August 9 to 15. The event will aim to bring together the most talented students from around the world who can create, use and develop artificial intelligence, as well as representatives of leading universities, who will demonstrate the latest scientific achievements and present students with opportunities to continue their education in the field of artificial intelligence.

On April 20, Burgas will host the Bulgarian edition of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. The robot competition will be held in the building of Burgas Free University. The event will also include an exhibition in which schools, laboratories and various organisations specialising in robotics will participate.
