Istanbul, May 23 (BTA exclusive by Nahide Deniz) - The Bulgarian
Sunday school in Istanbul named after brothers Sts Cyril and
Methodius who created the Slavonic alphabet, celebrates a double
holiday on May 24, which is marked in Bulgaria as the feast day
of the Sts Cyril and Methodius and as the day of Bulgarian
culture and education.
The principal of the school, Nevin Daoudova, says that this year
the school marks its fifth anniversary. The festivities will
take place online, which is unusual, but with the same
enthusiasm and sense of celebration, Daoudova says.
The students in the only Bulgarian Sunday school in Turkey will
join an online forum organized by Bulgarian Vice President
Iliyana Iotova in which pupils from Bulgarian schools abroad
will celebrate the work of Sts Cyril and Methodius.
The students will recite poems, sing songs, read stories and
essays which will be streamed on May 24 in Iotova's profile in
Facebook and YouTube. NV/ZH
