Bulgaria's best fencer Yoana Ilieva won a gold medal at the Women's Fencing World Cup tournament in Plovdiv. In the final she defeated 15:13 Italian Chiara Mormile and for the first time climbed to the top in a World Cup competition. 

So far, the Bulgarian fencer has two bronze medals at similar tournaments of similar rank.

The other Bulgaria fencer in the tournament, Olga Hramova, reached the tournament's semi-finals.

On Sunday, the World Cup in Plovdiv continues with the men's and women's team competition.
