Within the framework of her participation in an informal meeting of EU tourism ministers, Bulgarian Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova held working meetings with the Dutch and the Danish delegations. The sides considered opportunities for promoting tourist arrivals and popularizing Bulgaria as a tourist destination in the Netherlands and Denmark, Dinkova's Ministry said in a press release.
More than 94,000 Dutch tourists visited Bulgaria in 2023. "We would like to promote our cooperation and create prerequisites for an increase of the incoming market from the Netherlands. Bulgaria is an attractive destination, offering a variety of options for cultural, eco, seaside, mountain, SPA and wellness, wine and gourmet tourism," Dinkova pointed out.
Serpil Tascioglu, Director Topsectors and Industrial Policy at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, said that Bulgaria has the potential to attract more tourists from his country because they are ever more concerned about environmental protection and search for more sustainable products while, at the same time, being inclined to discover new destinations.
"Bulgaria has focused its efforts on asserting its image as a safe and competitive destination offering exclusive opportunities for rest and recreation, combined with curative mineral water and SPA. The variety of historical landmarks, cultural events, festival, gourmet experiences and the Bulgarian wine would satisfy even the most exquisite tastes," the Bulgarian Minister said when she conferred with Anders Thusgaard, Deputy Permanent Secretary of State at the Danish Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs.
Thusgaard noted that tourists from Denmark and particularly interested in visiting Balkan countries, especially in the segment of your travel. He said that following the COVID-19 pandemic Danes are exploring options for health tourism and recreation.
