The Bulgarian Medical Association and the Bulgarian Dental Association Tuesday signed annexes to the national framework agreement for medical and dental services for 2023 - 2025 with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). The framework agreement determines the scope of services covered by NHIF and the rates service providers are paid.
By law, the Health Ministry undersigns the document as it is important for the State to make sure the agreement between the professional organizations and the NHIF is in the best interest of all citizens, Health Minister Hristo Hinkov said during the signing ceremony.
Bulgarian Medical Association President Ivan Madzharov said that the documents continue the policy for improving medical care. He also said that interest in a career in outpatient care is increasing, that patients have improved access to more medical tests making diagnosing in outpatient care easier and more comprehensive. I hope that after this annex, there will be no difficulties in purchasing new equipment, he said. He said "the focus is on outpatient care and high-tech medicine in hospital care".
Bulgarian Dental Association President Nikolai Sharkov said that this framework agreement offers better conditions for doctors and patients. BGN 3 million have been allocated for dentalwork. This funding will reduce patent co-payment, he added.
