May 28 (BTA) - The total number of confirmed COVID-19
cases in Bulgaria is 2,477, the national coronavirus task force
said at its news briefing on Thursday morning. The latest
confirmed cases are 17. The fatalities are 134, one recent. A
total of 965 patients have recovered.
Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kounchev said that talks are
underway with the government to lift the requirement for a
14-day quarantine for Bulgarian and foreign nationals entering
this country. Kounchev said that the restrictions are eased but
face masks in indoor public spaces will remain for a long time
still.
National coronavirus task force head Gen. Ventsislav
Moutafchiiski said that although clinical trials of
hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 have been halted due to the many
side effects, the drug continues to be applied, to certain
patients who do not have counter indications.
Moutafchiiski said that specialists from the Military Medical
Academy have visited the San Mateo hospital in Italy. The two
hospitals are to sign an agreement on exchange of technologies
and ideas, Moutafchiiski said. RY/ZH
