Cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkiye, implemented and upcoming projects were discussed at the local conference of the project "Europe on the Balkans: A Common Future", which took place on Thursday at the National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Yambol. The project is implemented by BTA with the support of the European Commission and builds on the already implemented project "Europe in Bulgaria: A Common Future".

Among the objectives of the project are a better understanding of the role of Cohesion Policy, including in the Balkans; raising awareness of projects funded by the EU through Cohesion Policy; promoting an open dialogue on the results of its implementation at local level, as well as citizen participation on issues related to Cohesion Policy.

Cohesion policy is extremely important for all member states of the European Union and for achieving balance and overcoming the differences in the social and economic development of the regions, said Yambol Governor Bilyana Kavaldjieva-Dimitrova, who opened the forum.

The project for the future Yambol-Odrin railway line is key for Yambol region, the governor said.
